August - September 2024 at CARA
This is CARA’s newsletter for the months of August and September. Please enjoy some recent updates from our work, and thank you for your continued interest in CARA!
News and Publications
- The Catholic Ministry Formation Directory is one of CARA’s oldest projects, published biannually since 1987. The directory is available for purchase on CARA’s website, and statistical overviews of the enrollments in priestly, diaconate, and lay ecclesial ministry formation programs are available for free download on the same page.
- CARA is proud to announce the publication of our newest book, The Life and Ministry of Catholic Sisters in Africa, in collaboration with ASEC and CERRA-Africa. The book details recent studies on the work of African Catholic sisters, many of these studies being carried out by the sisters themselves. For now, the book is only available for purchase in Nairobi, but will hopefully be available in the U.S. soon.
Happenings at CARA
CARA would like to wish a happy 25th Anniversary to ASEC – The African Sisters Education Collaborative! By giving educational opportunities to Catholic sisters in Africa, ASEC aims to lift up not just sisters, but their entire communities. CARA has been proud to collaborate with ASEC to develop our Visiting Scholars Program.

From the Archives
In this edition of our newsletter, we’d like to feature one of CARA’s reports from years past. This Special Report from Fall 2017, titled “Catholics’ Opinions about Faith and Science,” investigates how Catholics compare to other faith groups in how they reconcile their faith with scientific concepts including the Big Bang, evolution, and climate change. You can read the full report for free by clicking on the image below, or you can find it on CARA’s website.
