News and Publications
- CERRA-Africa, the Nairobi-based research partner of CARA, hosted their first research symposium. ACI Africa published several pieces on the event, including this article sharing the presentation on aging women religious given by CARA director Fr. Tom Gaunt.
- The USCCB released the 2025 Portrait of the Permanent Diaconate, which CARA completes every year to gather information on the current class of men being ordained permanent deacons.
Happenings at CARA

CARA Researcher Mark Gray traveled to the Vatican to meet with other experts of Marriage and Family life in a gathering sponsored by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. Dr. Gray presented data from a variety of CARA research on the vocation to marriage and family, Catholics staying with or leaving the Church, and the level of importance religion plays in the lives of Catholics.
We would like to express the warmest welcome to Sister Vijo Arul Selvi M, CFMSS, our newest visiting scholar. Sister Vijo comes to us from India, where she will return to work at the Catholic social research center, CRRI, at the end of her six months in our office. She is already a beloved member of our team, and we are grateful to have her!
