- In January, CARA released an overview of the past 20 years of data collected on the sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy. This important data can be read in entirety on CARA’s website.
Happenings at CARA
The year 2024 brought many opportunities to CARA. Our office hosted another international religious sister, Sister Lavina Rodrigues, through our Visiting Scholars program, and put out a book in collaboration with several of our previous visiting scholars. CARA researchers had their work bring them on international travel to Zambia, Kenya, and Switzerland, as well as domestic trips to San Diego, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.
We completed research on environmental justice, migrants and refugees, welcoming children in worship, and disability awareness in Catholic parishes, to name just a few. It continues to be an honor to work on these and so many more important projects; CARA looks forward to another year of serving the research needs of the Church!
Here are a few things CARA will be working on in 2025
Convenings in India and in Mexico will have CARA researchers traveling abroad to collaborate with other Catholic research centers.
Thanks to generous crowd-funded support, CARA will investigate Marian Devotions and their relationship to vocations to ordained and religious life.
As we do every year, CARA will assist parishes nationwide through Parish Life surveys. If you are interested in a survey for your parish, you can find more information here.
